Dark days of government: Zambia UPND government revealed after three years – By Chanoda Ngwira

After three tumultuous years under the Zambian UPND government, a once promising landscape of hope and progress seems to have crumbled further under the weight of promises and dreams dashed and crumbled.
President Hakainde Hichilema, who promised to uphold the rule of law, now presides over a country in a serious governance crisis.
A persistent pattern of corruption allegations plaguing key ministries such as mining, energy and health has tainted the very fabric of government and eroded public confidence in its leaders.
Moreover, the specter of abuse of power hovers in Zambia, casting a dark shadow over the principles of democracy and equality.
Political opponents are vilified and ostracized as if they were second-class citizens of the country, and their rights trampled on with impunity.
The once proud foundations of multi-party democracy now lie in ruins, shattered by unprecedented divisions sown by leaders who promised unity and progress.
With each passing day, it becomes clearer that UPND’s tenure in office has little to celebrate.
Emboldened by a culture of lawlessness and impunity, UPND cadres flout the rules without fear of consequences, further stoking chaos and discord.
The state’s complicity in this culture of impunity is shockingly highlighted by the exorbitant compensation payments paid to UPND cadres who were allegedly wrongfully arrested to the staggering sum of 35 million kwacha, a grim testament to the erosion of justice and fairness under the current ruling government.
With the economy in intensive care slumping and the fabric of national unity crumbling under Hakainde Hichilema’s watch, grand promises of prosperity and harmony ring hollow in the ears of disgruntled Zambians.
The harsh reality paints a grim picture of a confused nation held hostage by a leadership that has failed to deliver on its mandate and instead ushered in an era of decadence and despair.
The verdict is clear: UPND rule is a symbol of disappointment and disillusionment that casts a long shadow over Zambia’s future.
