In a significant ruling, the Lusaka High Court has ordered the forfeiture of assets valued at over ZMW 100 million to the State, marking a major victory in the fight against corruption.
The court’s decision comes after the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a Non-Conviction Based Forfeiture application under Sections 29 and 31 of the Forfeiture of Proceeds of Crime Act No 19 of 2012. The case involved Pittscon Zambia Limited and its directors, who are alleged to have acquired these assets between 2018 and 2022 through illicit means.
The company, which had secured contracts for periodic road maintenance under the Ministry of Local Government and Housing, is accused of amassing wealth through corrupt practices. The court’s ruling underscores Zambia’s commitment to adhering to international standards on asset recovery and highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to combat financial crime.
