A significant discovery of treasures from Egypt’s last dynasty has been made in 63 tombs in the Nile Delta region. The artefacts, dating from the late and early Ptolemaic periods, include gold coins, jewelry, statues, and funerary amulets. The finds were uncovered in the Tell al-Deir necropolis in Damietta by an Egyptian archaeological mission. Some pieces may be displayed in museums once restored and classified. The Ptolemaic dynasty, Egypt’s final ruling family before Roman incorporation, was founded by Ptolemy I in 305 BC and ended with Cleopatra.
