Zambia’s international standing has seen significant improvement since President Hakainde Hichilema took office in 2021, according to Robert Chabinga, the Member of Parliament for Mafinga and a key figure in the Patriotic Front (PF). During a recent visit to the Zambian Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Chabinga expressed admiration for the strides made by the country in enhancing its global profile and economic position.
The PF MP highlighted that Zambia’s economic recovery has been well recognized by global economic rating agencies, which has further boosted the nation’s reputation on the international stage. This positive recognition, Chabinga believes, offers a unique opportunity for Zambia’s diplomats to promote foreign investment and encourage economic collaboration with other nations.
“Since President Hichilema assumed office, Zambia’s international profile has significantly improved. The country’s economic recovery is evident, with various global economic rating agencies recognizing the strides made,” Chabinga said during his visit. He praised the President’s unwavering commitment to improving Zambia’s economic standing, noting the strategic steps Hichilema has taken to stabilize and strengthen the economy.
Chabinga also emphasized the collective responsibility of all Zambians, including opposition political parties and citizens, to uphold national values and contribute to the country’s development. He underscored that the progress Zambia seeks will require the active participation of everyone, not just the President, advocating for greater patriotism and national unity.
The MP’s visit to Ethiopia included a tour of a local company specializing in mineral clustering, further underscoring Zambia’s interest in fostering international partnerships for sustainable economic growth.
