On Sunday, August 25, 2024, a disturbing incident in Mpika district, Muchinga Province, has sparked controversy after footage emerged showing a group of individuals clad in UPND party regalia threatening security guards at Yusufu Radio, a Catholic-owned station.

The incident reportedly occurred when a group of young men, dressed in red UPND attire, forcefully entered the radio station premises. According to Catholic Bishop of Mpika, Rt. Rev. Edwin Mulandu, the intruders aimed to disrupt a political program featuring Citizens First President Harry Kalaba. Despite the security guards’ attempts to de-escalate the situation, the group allegedly continued to act aggressively, threatening staff and residents with machetes and other offensive weapons.

Bishop Mulandu confirmed the invasion in a statement, expressing serious concern over the safety of the station’s premises and its occupants. He reported that a formal complaint has been lodged with the Mpika police, requesting a thorough investigation and appropriate action against those involved.
