Government Begins Paying Allowances to Olympic Athletes, Including Samukonga
Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu announced that the Government has started disbursing allowances to athletes who represented Zambia at the recent Paris Olympics. Among those paid are sprinter Muzala Samukonga and boxer Patrick Chinyemba.
Nkandu clarified that only the allowance for Samukonga’s bronze medal win remains unpaid, as the Ministry had previously settled local camping allowances before the Games. He expressed concern over athletes’ tendency to go public with grievances and emphasized the Government’s commitment to addressing all pending payments.
