Renowned academician Prof. Naison Ngoma has called for Zambia to realize its potential as Africa’s bread basket. As Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Leadership and Democracy and former Vice Chancellor of Copperbelt University, Prof. Ngoma highlighted Zambia’s rich agricultural land, water resources, and growing youth population as key assets for transformation.
Prof. Ngoma advocates leveraging institutions like Copperbelt University and Zambia National Service to develop northern regions such as Kasaba Bay into major agricultural hubs. He sees potential in prioritizing fish farming and other ventures to achieve food self-sufficiency and export to neighboring countries.
Emphasizing the role of youth, Prof. Ngoma encourages them to focus on contributing to the nation’s development. His call aims to mobilize resources and collaboration to harness Zambia’s agricultural potential, paving the way for food security and economic growth.
